Last year was a year of growth and learning for me as I worked towards my goals and pursued new opportunities in the tech industry. I had always been interested in pursuing a career in this field, and I was determined to make the most of every opportunity that came my way.
My most significant accomplishments last year were graduating from the AWS Restart boot camp and earning my AWS Cloud Practitioner certification. AWS re/Start was a highly respected and intensive program, and I had to work hard to keep up with the material and meet the requirements. I spent long hours studying and practicing, and I was thrilled when I finally earned my certification.
I knew that having this certification would give me a competitive edge in the job market, and I was eager to put it to use. So I started applying for software developer positions at top tech companies, including Google and AWS.
I was thrilled when I received invitations to interview with both companies. The rigorous interview process required me to demonstrate my knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and other technical concepts. Therefore, I prepared as much as possible and did my best to showcase my skills and potential.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t offered the job at either company. It was a disappointment, and I couldn’t help but feel discouraged. I wondered if I had done something wrong or needed to improve.
However, I didn’t let these setbacks get me down. I reminded myself that the job search process is unpredictable and that it’s common to face setbacks along the way. I decided to keep trying and learn from my experiences.
I continued to apply for jobs and network with tech industry people. I also worked on improving my skills by taking online courses and participating in coding challenges. I was determined to keep growing and learning, and I knew it was just a matter of time before I found the right opportunity.
In December, my persistence paid off. I was offered an IT Operations System Analyst position at Bay Cove Human Services. This was a role that I was well-suited for, and I was excited to start working in a professional setting and to apply my skills and knowledge.
Looking back on the past year, I’ve learned that success is only sometimes a straight path. Instead, it requires effort, persistence, and a willingness to learn and grow. I’m grateful for the opportunities and lessons I’ve learned, and I look forward to continuing to grow and learn in the coming years. I’m excited to see what the future holds, and I’m determined to make the most of every opportunity that comes my way.
