The City of Saint John is actively seeking a Facility Management Technologist to join our team.
Under the direction of the Superintendent, Asset & Energy Management, this position is responsible for the management of the day-to-day operation of various building systems within the City-owned facilities, including any repairs, maintenance, renovations and construction of the City facilities. Responsibilities also include the preparation of specifications, tender documents, proposal calls and request for quotations and responding to emergency situations outside of regular working hours.
The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the operation and management of City-owned facilities including: inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, capital planning, coordination, as well as project management and execution. The primary objective of the Facility Management Technologist will be asset protection. The Facility Management Technologist will ensure that the assigned buildings are being managed and maintained in a safe and environmentally responsible manner to the highest level of operational efficiency in accordance with established guidelines and procedures, as well as applicable Federal, Provincial, and Municipal regulations.
The successful candidate will have working knowledge and hands-on experience in the operation and management of building systems including, but not limited to: building structure, exterior cladding, windows and doors, overhead doors, roof system, interior elements, plumbing fixtures and systems, HVAC system, energy management, arena refrigeration system, electrical and lighting systems, fire and life safety systems, parking garages, landscaping, and other unique building systems. The Facility Management Technologist will engage and coordinate with existing service contractors as required to perform more significant maintenance and repairs.
The Facility Management Technologist will be well versed in computer technology and project management as this role has significant responsibilities for creating and managing Work Orders for service providers, managing budgets and renovation projects, reporting, as well as correspondence with various stakeholders.
