LANDLORDS IN THE CITY OF MONTEREY ARE REACTING TO THE NEW CITY ORDINANCE REQUIRING THEM TO REGISTER HOW MANY UNITS THEY HAVE AND HOW MUCH THEY ARE CHARGING RENTERS. CLIP 2920 – 0 0;01;20;14 – WE THINK THAT THE CITY CAN DO, UH, MORE IN TERMS OF TRYING TO HELP THE CITIZENS OF THIS COMMUNITY WITH HOUSING WITHOUT DOING A REGISTRY. BUT UNFORTUNATELY, WE LOST THAT BATTLE. SO WE’RE DEALING WITH IT NOW. THE ORDINANCE SAYS, IF YOU ARE RENTING OUT MORE THAN THREE UNITS YOU WILL HAVE TO REGISTER THEM WITH THE CITY BEFORE MARCH 1ST. EACH REGISTRATION WILL COST 50 DOLLARS A YEAR..
