Recently I googled certain things that we here in TEXAS might have a different name for. What the other STATES or parts of the county may refer to something as… we may call it something else.
We do say things a little differently down here in the great State of Texas! Let’s be real. And we are referencing certain things the rest of the United States may call it something., but here in Texas, we call it something else. Here are 10 examples!
Texans, do you agree with some of these references?
#1 * WE CALL IT A COKE!
I’m actually surprised we don’t call soda Dr. Pepper, because yes it’s our favorite soda beverage here in Texas. But, whenever we want a soda, we call it a COKE! Not soda and for sure not POP! Do you agree?
#2 * WE CALL IT A BUGGY!
In googling this, I was a little surprised by this one, but apparently, more Texans call a shopping cart A BUGGY and not a shopping cart or a basket! I would say basket. Do you agree with Buggy?
#3 WE CALL IT A SUB!
A hoagie? Yeah, no! Don’t know what a hoagie is. But we sure do know what a SUB is!
A hotdish? Um, a hotdish can mean some other stuff in Texas but it’s definitely not what we call a CASSEROLE! Do you agree?
#5 WE CALL IT SUPPER!
So apparently DINNER for most of the country is the last meal of the day. Here in TEXAS, it seems that SUPPER is the word we use! Do you agree?
Yes, TRUCKS are the GO-TO vehicle for Texans, and yes they are trucks but most Texans refer to them as a PICKUP! Do you agree?
Tea in Texas needs to be Sweet! Enough said! LOL People will ask for Sweet Tea! And, if they do say just TEA, they mean Sweet Tea! Do you agree?
#8 WE CALL IT A KOLACHE!
Is it a Pig In A Blanket? Is it a Klobásníky? Is it a Kolaches?
The consensus seems to be Kolaches here in Texas. Do you agree?
#9 WE CALL IT A BREAKFAST TACO!
Yes, they are Burritos but if it’s breakfast you might hear more Texans refer to them as Breakfast Tacos. Do you agree?
#10 WE CALL IT GRILLING!
Grilling refers to hot dogs, hamburgers, and such. Barbecuing refers to TEXAS BBQ! Yeah, it’s a Texas thing. Do you agree?
