LAS VEGAS: Initiatives by Amazon Web Services (AWS) in government departments in India will ensure that the focus remains on building national digital platforms, its director and chief technologist of India public sector business Shalini Kapoor told TOI on the sidelines of AWS re:Invent 2023 held in Las Vegas between November 27 and December 1.
AWS has supported the Union government in rolling out CoWin, DigiLocker and DigiYatra. It has a focused mission to empower Indians via national platforms, bridging the national digital divide through skills programs in cloud computing and machine learning, and through customers and partners they work with, Kapoor said.
“We are working with state governments like Telangana on their Aarogyasri Health Care Trust programme and with Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation, and Keltron in Kerala to enable e-governance services. Here, state and other departments are helped to move to a cloud journey, migrate their applications, and bring them onto the cloud so that they benefit from newer inventions and innovations that we bring,” Kapoor added.
AWS is looking at collaborations with startups and large enterprises in the agriculture sector and supporting the government’s vision to empower farmers.
CropIn has built its solutions on AWS that helped more than seven million farmers understand the marketplace in which various agri solutions are provided for better crop yield. CEO of AWS Adam Selipsky’s announcements at the AWS re:Invent 2023 event can help the Indian government develop a digital ecosystem. These include Amazon Q, a new generative AI-powered assistant, developed specifically for work and can be tailored to a customer’s business. It can help developers and IT professionals in code transformations.
