Now living in a fast-paced digital era, it’s important for young people to have strong technology knowledge.
This is an area that the Ministry of Youth and Sports is strengthening through mobile skills training on the introduction to information technology or IT among youths.
The training, according to a Ministry of Youth and Sports statement, was aimed to equip the youths with good computer skills that would enable them to become more productive and efficient in their future careers.
Ministry of Youth and Sports acting permanent secretary, Philip Hereniko, who closed the workshop expressed his gratitude to the participants who showed dedication and interest in the training.
He acknowledged the active participation of three youth clubs, highlighting the potential that youths possess.
“In today’s era, technology has become an integral part of our daily lives,” he said.
“The youth of today face numerous challenges, especially when it comes to employment opportunities.
Recognising this, the Ministry of Youth and Sports organised this training to bridge the gap between our young people and the ever-evolving world of technology.
“Information technology has become the backbone of the job market and mastering computer skills has become a necessity for success.
“This training offers a substantial opportunity for our youth to easily enter the job market, enhancing their employability and opening new doors in their professional lives.”
Mr Hereniko took time to acknowledge the tremendous efforts made by the trainers and organisers of the program by recognising their commitment and dedication in empowering the youths with essential computer skills.
He also congratulated the participants who successfully completed the training and encouraged them to continue building upon the knowledge they gained.
The training was held at the Valelevu Youth Training Centre in Nasinu.
